We are happy to invite you to a talk delivered by Avi Hersh, financial consultant, business adviser, contrarian, entrepreneur and ‘bleeding’ edge investor.

Avi has an eclectic background and is a true pioneer of the Russian capital markets – having been active in Russia since the early 1990s while witnessing and participating in the emergence and development of Private Equity and Venture Capital in the country.

As an eyewitness participant in the emergence and development of the Russian financial and real estate markets, Avi will share some of his personal experiences of interaction with Russian business, from startup stages through multi-disciplined enterprises since 1990s -. He will discuss formation of the venture capital industry in Russia, the evolving stages, its history, present and possible future.

Avi Hersh — possesses more than 28 years of experience in the finance and investment industries in both the USA and various Emerging Markets. His most recent activities have been as advisor to various private entities and financial institutions arranging venture capital, private equity and debt for growth, strategic acquisitions and shareholder buyouts, as well as assistance with strategic development. As Founder and CEO of Emerging Markets Capital and Credit Corp. (Emc3) he has been responsible for the placement of $350 million of private equity and $1Bil in debt for a wide variety of corporate entities and financial institutions.

Mr. Hersh was one of the key Founding partners of the Discovery Russian Realty Fund, a $435 million hybrid debt and equity fund created specifically for the development of a 110,000 sqm. major office development and hotel in downtown Moscow. Previously to that, he was a Managing Director for Otkritie Financial Corporation, responsible for origination and development of financial institutional relationships with global financial institutions and asset management firms.
